I was having lunch at Buck’s with Tom when my phone buzzed for the fourth time. My PA asking if the contractor had ordered the security system I asked for.

"Why doesn't your phone ring anymore?" I asked Tom.

"Tony handles everything," he said.

“Tony?”

"My new Chief of Staff. He manages all my assistants."

"How many assistants do you have, Tom?"

"About thirty," he said.

“THIRTY?”

"More or less. I started with Tony. Tony never forgets. He adds staff as needed—property managers, event planners, travel agent, home and boat maintenance, tax manager, a tutor for my kids. He manages all my subscriptions and tracks my bills. He helps me manage my cash calls, screens startups, finds new ETFs and runs monte-carlo simulations on my portfolio. He also orders my meds and my parents meds."

“Those assistants are all on your payroll? That must be around a million a year.”

"$3,000 a month," he said. He showed me his morning briefing from Tony:

• Summary of co-investment opportunity with Amy.

• Wine arriving tonight for the party tomorrow.

• Sara will pick up the kids after piano lessons.

• You asked who you spoke to last summer about Acongagua - it was Richard James. I found a Zoom call where you talked about it. Want me to set up another call?

• Joel had to reschedule for tomorrow, it’s now at 2pm.

• Full background on each person in your upcoming meeting at 3pm - you have some interesting things in common with the EVP.

• Insurance renewal needs approval. Recommend renew.

• Your agent wants to know if you can give a keynote at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on June 5th. It could work if you want to be in Europe then.

• Got the boat remodel quote down from $30K to $24K.

• Found a new sailboat in Sausalito, here are the photos.

"What about everything else? Your manufacturing company? Your speeches? Aconcagua? Show me your to-do list."

"I don’t have a to-do list. I don’t manage Tony,” Tom said. “Tony has dozens of to-do lists. Tony manages me. I gave him my objectives, commitments, projects, schedules, contacts, calendar, his own email address, his own phone number. He screens my calls and emails. Takes messages. Takes care of them and sends me a memo, so I don’t have to deal with them. Tells me where I need to be when.”

“By voice, you mean?”

"Tony calls when he needs me. I call him if I’m driving or need him quickly. If he needs approval, he’ll send a text. Otherwise we're in Slack working on projects. He remembers everything I’ve ever told him. Soon he’ll take over all my bookkeeping. Next year, he’ll do my taxes."

“What about errands and physical work?”

“Tony has a list of resources he likes and people I’ve worked with.” He can use delivery services, TaskRabbit, and send messages to set up projects. He manages the cleaning and gardening people and makes sure they stay ahead, not behind. He hired everyone for the party tomorrow, including valets. Tony can easily work with a good PA the way he works with me.”

"How much?"

"For me, setup was $10,000. The first thing I did was choose the name Tony. It took a few weeks to bring Tony up to speed. The Claw Studio guys do all the heavy lifting. Two days later, they sent me Tony’s phone number and email address, and he connected us on WhatsApp and Slack. Tony has his own Gmail suite, so I can forward him messages, he doesn’t have access to my accounts. I talk with Tony about 30 minutes a day, and he does all the work. That's why my phone doesn't ring."

“I heard Open Claw is dangerous.”

“It’s powerful.” he said. “You have to use it properly. Claw Studio keeps me safe. The guys have computer science and AI backgrounds from Stanford, Google, Microsoft. I ask if I can set up a new kind of agent and they come back and tell me what I can do and what I can’t. I have a special debit card that only releases funds when I approve — I’m always in the loop.”

My phone buzzed. The contractor.
